"What's all this that I'm hearing about:  modern, post-modern, gen-x, emerging culture, vintage faith, emerging church... blah, blah, blah??"

I'm glad you asked that question!

The church in America is facing the most serious crisis it has seen in centuries.  Will it survive and thrive... or will it become nearly culturally irrelevant like the church in Europe did?

There are significant cultural changes taking place and the church has been slow to recognize it, and even slower to respond in a meaningful way.  Many churches are starting to notice symptoms (like less people under 30 in attendance), but they have no clue as to the reason.  We also see a radically different attitude and outlook coming from many of the "twenty-somethings," but it's hard to put your finger on exactly what it is.  We seem to have more questions than answers...   Is this really a different culture?  Won't they just grow out of it?   How do we respond?  What happens if we don't respond correctly?  What do these so called "post-moderns" believe that is all that much different?  What is the future of the "modern" church?  If you have been asking any of these questions, we invite you to take just a few minutes and cruse through the pages that make up this web site.  It was created by, and for "modern baby-boomers," to inform, and encourage believers to respond as God would have us, to meet this new challenge.

We are attempting to introduce a very complicated topic in a clear, concise, and understandable way.  Once you understand the magnitude of the problem, we pray that you too will take action in your corner of The Kingdom, for the sake of Christ!

So who is behind this web site?  Well that would be us: Jeff & Michelle Corcoran.  I guess you can call us "baby-boomers."   The biplane ride on the right was a surprise for Michelle's birthday a couple years ago.  We grew up in the 60's (Jeff even saw the Beatles in concert... twice).  We each came to Christ in the early 70's and have been involved in some sort of ministry ever since.  We spent several years in Pastoral Ministry, and have also done everything from a Christian Day Care to Prayer Ministry.  Right now Jeff works with IMF Development as a consultant to Pastors and church leaders on church growth and facilities issues.  On the personal side... we have 4 awesome kids and 4 great "kids-in-law."  We also have five adorable grandchildren, what a joy!  Now with all the kids out of the house we get to spend more time together than we have for 27 years!  For more information, you can fire off an email to:  info@EmergingMinistry.com.
